Sagittarius, the Archer

In this painting, The Archer is found in a natural temple of peaks and canyons – the high places where a Sag feels at home while continually aspiring to even higher ground. Jupiter, the rowdy loud-mouth of the gods, is assigned as the sign’s ruler. It lingers low in the sky. A Centaur must master his/her strength and passion of a horse with human intellect, ambition, and spirit. Like a priest, Sagittarius combines lofty spiritual pursuits with human ambitions and animal passions. This one wears the leopard skin quiver reserved for the priesthood; his arrow is aflame, lit from censors standing at each side, each burning with incense, burning for the Sagittarian freedom to explore all planes: physical, mental, emotional, and metaphysical.
